Barbaz' assignment after he left the Advanced Studio, was working on Snyder's proposed '49 Continental. He also worked on the design of the 1949 Presidential Lincoln, the XL-500, the Quicksilver and many other concept cars. He became manager in the Edsel pre-production studio, and, later, he was a manager in the truck studio. He also helped design many of the Canadian Meteors and Monarchs.
Throughout his career, Barbaz was assigned to various exterior studios and was often loaned to the advanced and pre-production studios to work on concept cars. He is an accomplished airbrush artist, who was often asked to do airbrush renderings. He was one of the designers regularly assigned to work at the auto shows the Design Department participated in. Barbaz also did caricatures and cartoons for various functions at the Styling Center.
He retired in 1981. |
