| Biography: |
In mid-1952, Ford rehired Jones as a designer in the Mercury studio. Although Jones worked mostly on production Mercurys, his unique roof design was incorporated into the design of the XM-800. In 1954, Jones was assigned to Roy Brown's Edsel studio, where he was assigned to work on the car's exterior design. While in the Edsel studio, Jones helped design a proposed small Edsel that eventually became the Comet. When the Edsel program was canceled, Jones returned to the Mercury studio.
In 1962, Jones was made a design manager in the truck studio and placed in charge of exterior design. In 1968, he became a manager in the Mustang, Fairlane, Falcon and Maverick interior studio. Jones was later transferred to the truck and international interior studio as a manager. During his last ten years at Ford, he was manager of the trim and color studio. |
